I just wanted to write in to say well done and thank you to jane and will of Bristol Jive Club for an absolutely fantastic weekend from friday 25th to monday 28th April at the Ocean View Hotel in Bournemouth.
It was my first time at a rock'n'roll weekender and i was made feel so welcome. i made some everlasting friends and even learned to jive and stroll ( albeit quite badly but it didn't matter, i was having fun!). The line up of entertainment was fantastic and an impromptu session by Dave D and Rob Reynolds on the sunday afternoon was brilliant and hilarious. The bands were fantastic as well and it was just so nice to see so many people enjoying themselves.
Well done to Jane and Will - it was obvious how much hard work they had put into organising this event and they both looked shattered by the end of it. But it was well worth it because everyone just seemed to have so much fun. can't wait till the next one!"

Friday April 25th and we're off to Bournemouth. After a scenic tour of the town,we eventually found the Ocean View Hotel and received a more than warm welcome from Will & Jane, of Bristol Jive Club. Nice hotel with great food and a dance floor made of hardboard! But that's another story, Suffice to say it worked very well although it could have done with being a bit bigger. Great crowd with a really good atmosphere.
Friday evening after a huge meal into the ballroom to be entertained by Rob Reynolds-who's he? i hear you ask. Probably one of the best Elvis impersonators on the circuit and that's from one who is an Elvis fan. Great voice and top rate act. The blonde was well impressed - i don't know if it was him or the tight white trousers! He was followed by an hour of the Rockin' Mr D who opened a lengthy song sheet and asked various punters to select numbers which he sang to pre-recorded backing tracks. Very good voice and good act. He was all over the blonde and i obviously wanting a good write-up in maggie's!!
Band for the night were our mates the Heartbeats who belted it out for two great sets. They've got better every time we've seen them.
Saturday and a long walk into town and not a charity shop in sight! Then of course the walk back except that the town is at sea level and the hotel was six feet higher, they would be issuing oxygen masks! I was using some other blighter's legs by the time we got back.
The first band of the evening were our favourites, The Kingcats. Couldn't be better with bill in fine voice and then as a bonus introducing us to his 14 year old daughter, Abbie Marie who did three numbers with the band and really had the punters eating out of her hand. What a voice that girl has. It;s wanda jackson all over again. Great. Congratulations to lead guitarist Gabriel who has just become a dad for the first time. Baby boy born a few weeks ago! Last band for the day and once again Jive Street. Close your eyes and you could have been back at beverley park. Good night! Fancy dress was the order of the night with loads of pirates and the blonde in her french maid's outfit.
Sunday evening and the first band were razzle dazzle, a six piece outfit with slap bass, sax, keyboard, and two guitars. They are mainly a bill haley tribute band and if you discount the blonde mini-skirted bass player, the rest of them have a combined age of about a thousand! We didn't really rate them last time we saw them but this time they were great, especially their second set. Good stuff.
Last band were local lads, Rockin'the joint. who for some reason did not seem quite so good as usual. They were still good but not that good. Home on monday after a thoroughly enjoyable weekend. Next one is in torquay next year. We will be there. Many thanks for all your efforts Will & Jane and keep up the good work.

I felt compiled to write to congratulate will and the team at Bristol Jive Club for a fantastic weekend at the Ocean view hotel Bournemouth April 2008.
When we arrived we were greeted by jane who made sure that we were booked into our room without delay, The Hotel was excerlent and the food was first class.
The atmosphere in the ballroom from the first night was electric, and all the bands for the weekend were first class, they were all well seasoned to rock'n'roll events, but they all seamed to give that little bit more on the night,
On the friday night we were entertained by an Elvis tribute, who was amazing, one of the best i have ever seen, then after by a guy called the Rockin' Mr D, We had not seen him before, but he walked around and asked us to pick the songs he should sing, this was great and he was such a good showman, The last band was The Heartbeats, who did two great sets, this band always seem to love what they do. On the saturday night the Kingcats were joined by bill's daughter Abbie Marie who is just 14 years old, what a voice this little girl has, it would be nice to see her do some complete sets,The last band were Jive Street, what can you say about this band, jst great,as always.
When sunday came around, razzle dazzle were the first band for the night, i had heard that they were not playing as a band anymore due to illness, but it was great to see them as you can dance to everything they play, The last band for the night wes Rockin the joint, who did two great sets,
We had a fantastic time on this weekend, it was our first time with Bristol Jive Club, but it won't be our last, we were well looked after,
We would like to thank Will & Jane very much. see you in torquay 2009.
