Hi, Everyone,
Welcome to the home page of Bristol jive club. Bristol jive club was set up with the aim to put the fun back into 50's rock 'n' roll and to be able to offer top bands at a price everyone could afford. Over the years we have attended many different clubs only to be told that children were not allowed or had to pay full price, so we decided at our events we would not charge for children. Our aim was also to raise money for various charites through our rock 'n' roll events and show everyone that rock 'n' roll still has an active part to play within today's modern music scene.
Our opening night was on January 15th 2003 with Jive Street and the event was held at somerset hall, Portishead, Bristol, and was in aid of Macmillan cancer relief. It was agreat night and well attended, and we raised over £1000.00 for the Macmillan charity.
Since then we have held many fund raising events, and with the help of our rock 'n' roll friends we have been able to help such charites as, macmillan cancer relief, The children's hospice, The tiny lives campaign, The British heart foundation, The raven's wood and clairmount school's for children with learning diffculties.and for the victims of breast cancer, and strokes, We have also held dances at the annual wham, balloon, filton and kingswood park festivals, and even a dance in the co-op car park on July 31st,and on the back of a lorry to raise money. It's been a lot of hard work, but it was also a lot of fun, and we are proud to be able to say that as a result of our dances we were able to raise and donate more than £37,450.00 to these charites. We would like to thank everyone who helped and attended these events, as without your help and support none of this would have been possible,THANK YOU.
Our weekend dance events have become a great sucess, as we offer all the top bands that you will be able to see on any other weekender, we only use first class hotels as you would expect.and we have been able to offer our weekenders at low low prices,as we do not want or need to make huge profits, our aim is to give you great value for your money, and keep rock'n'roll alive, why not try one of our weekenders, if you have not been before you don't know what your missing.
All the music files on this web site, are in wma format, and you will need to have windows media player, with active x installed on your computer to play them.
